Arsenal star Aaron Ramsdale won the Goalkeeper of the Year Award at the London Football Awards on Monday night.

The Gunners stopper picked up the accolade in wake of his heroics for the north Londoners this season.

Ramsdale has kept 12 clean sheets in the Premier League this season and has conceded less than a goal a game.

His efforts have helped Arsenal remain five points clear at the top of the table with 11 matches to go.

The Gunners have lost just three of their 27 Premier League games so far this term, drawing another three.

On Tuesday, Ramsdale took to Instagram to express his pride and honour at winning the award.

Plenty of his peers, including Reiss Nelson, Jude Bellingham and Dom Solanke, paid tribute to the Arsenal ace.

Ramsdale has been a revelation for Arsenal since his £30million move from Sheffield United in 2021.

When speculation emerged regarding the Gunners’ interest in the 24-year-old, there was criticism from some quarters.

Ramsdale had been relegated with both the Blades and Bournemouth, which led to some concern about him.

In addition, some wondered why Arsenal were willing to spend so much on a keeper when they already had Bernd Leno.

Luckily, Mikel Arteta and Edu ignored all the noise and brought Ramsdale to the Emirates Stadium.

It didn’t take long for the player to dethrone Leno as Arsenal’s number one, and he’s now an indispensable player and fan favourite.

It’s great to see game recognise game as well.

Both Ramsdale and Bellingham went to Euro 2020 and the 2022 World Cup. They both should have plenty more tournaments ahead of them.

As for Nelson, hopefully he’ll extend his Arsenal contract and become a key player. It’s no less than he deserves at N5.
