Aston Villa earned a 2-0 win over bitter rivals Birmingham City on Sunday.

Aston Villa icon Juan Pablo Angel has congratulated his former side on Twitter as they earned a comfortable 2-0 win over Birmingham City on Sunday afternoon.
Speed machine Albert Adomah scored his 14th goal of the season with a low shot from the edge of the area before Conor Hourihane wrapped up the three points and the bragging rights with an excellent left-footed effort from long range.

The win comes as both important for Villa fans to get one over their rivals, but also crucial in the Championship promotion race as Villa have now climbed into second place.
Angel, who scored 54 goals in a six-year spell at Villa Park between 2001 and 2007, described the win as a “great result” on Twitter as his old side continue to keep pace with league leaders Wolves.
Villa have continued an excellent record against the Blues of late, losing just one of their last 14 matches against Birmingham. In that time, Villa have won nine outings against their bitter Championship rivals.
Steve Bruce will be hoping his side can maintain their excellent run of form, which now stretches to five straight league wins following an FA Cup loss to Peterborough, as they travel to west London to face Fulham on Saturday in what will be a much tougher test.
