Tottenham Hotspur fans will have watched with pride as one of their own, Juan Foyth, played a big role in an Arsenal defeat last night.
Arsenal went down 2-1 to Villarreal in the first leg of a Europa League semi-final.
And Foyth, who joined the Spanish side on loan from Tottenham last summer, had a stormer of a performance at right-back.
The Spurs prospect, who joined the North Londoners in 2017 for £8 million, was a constant threat as he bombed forward at every possible opportunity against the Gunners.
But his night ended in unfortunate circumstances after going off injured with a suspected hamstring problem on 70 minutes.
Foyth has reacted to the victory on Twitter, claiming that he’ll undergo tests to determine the extent of the damage today.
His tweet when translated to English reads: “Important victory against a difficult opponent. A pity not to have been able to finish the match on such a special night. Tomorrow they will do a study to know the state of the injury. I hope it is nothing serious and that I can return as soon as possible with my colleagues.”
It’s ironic because Tottenham have needed an excellent right-back all season long, with Serge Aurier and Matt Doherty fairly far from convincing.
And going by his performance against Arsenal, Foyth might just be the answer.
Former Gunners boss Unai Emery has really drawn some brilliant performances from the big Argentina international this season and it’ll be fascinating to see how he fares on his return to North London.
If last night’s display is anything to go by, Daniel Levy won’t want to lose him for good.
