Tottenham Hotspur defender Juan Foyth could have a real chance to nail down a place in Mauricio Pochettino’s starting line-up this weekend.

Spurs are set to face Watford, and Foyth is finally in contention to make his first start of the season.

The Argentine has recovered from injury to play 90 minutes for his country over the past fortnight, and prove his fitness.

Pochettino may well now be tempted to throw Foyth straight into his starting line-up, as Spurs seek a consistent right-back.

Tottenham could go with Serge Aurier against Watford, but he has proven untrustworthy, and Pochettino still seems to have doubts over utilising Kyle Walker-Peters.

That may well make Foyth the leading candidate to start at right-back, as that seemed to be Spurs’s plan over pre-season.

Foyth had started on the right-hand side of defence towards the back end of last campaign and played there in a handful of friendlies, before injury struck.

If Foyth can now go on and catch the eye, he has a huge opportunity to make the position his own.

It would be a huge boost for Tottenham if Foyth did prove himself at right-back, as it has been a massively problematic position for them ever since Kieran Trippier departed.

And the hope is that Foyth can really make the position his own over the coming weeks, starting on Saturday.
