The young defender looks like moving to Tottenham Hotspur this summer but talks are continuing.
Tottenham Hotspur target Juan Foyth has been speaking to El Dia about the ongoing negotiations between the North London club and his current side Estudiantes.
As reported by the Daily Mail earlier this month, Tottenham look set to seal a £9million deal in due course, but according to the player’s latest comments there is still some work to be done.
When asked if he is indeed moving to Tottenham this summer, Foyth is quoted as telling El Dia, “Truth to be told I do not know. I heard that they are negotiating with Tottenham. But the truth is that I do not know how far they will go and if I will finally be transferred.
“I ask little and I do not want to know too much.”
Foyth is still only 19 and he has featured just four times for his parent-club’s senior side to date.
That said, his performances for his country’s under-20 side have got people talking and Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino is believed to be a big fan of his young countryman.
While Foyth is predominantly a centre-back he can also operate as a holding midfielder if required and that versatility could come in very handy at Tottenham if he does ultimately arrive.
It would be easy to find similarities wit Eric Dier, who arrived at White Hart Lane as a youngster and has blossomed into one of England’s finest players in just a few short seasons.
If Foyth arrives he will be hoping to follow the same path, but as he has said, there is still some work to be done behind the scenes before this deal is officially announced and Tottenham fans finally get their wish for a summer signing.
