Estudiantes defender Juan Foyth has commented on Tottenham’s interest in signing him.
Estudiantes defender Juan Foyth has told Radio Continental in his native Argentina that talks with Tottenham Hotspur could be imminent.
Foyth, 19, has come up through the ranks with Estudiantes having been born in La Plata, and he has now become a first-team player for the Argentinian side.
Primarily a centre back who can also play in holding midfield if needed, Foyth has emerged as a top young prospect in Argentina, and even featured for his country at the Under-20 World Cup earlier this summer.
Unsurprisingly, Foyth’s promising displays have trigged interest in Europe, with Gianluca Di Marzio recently reporting that Roma are particularly keen to sign him this summer.
However, a recent report from The Mirror suggested that Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing Foyth after he was recommended to manager Mauricio Pochettino – a former Argentinian international defender.
There now appears to be some validity to those rumours, as Foyth spoke to Argentinian radio station Radio Continental about his future, firstly denying that he would join compatriots Leandro Paredes and Sebastian Driussi at Zenit St. Petersburg.

Foyth – as translated by Goal – admitted that he first heard about Tottenham’s interest on social media, and claimed he wants to play in Europe if a good enough offer comes in.
The teenage defender added that Estudiantes chairman and former Manchester United midfielder Juan Sebastian Veron could travel with Foyth’s agent in order to discuss a move to Tottenham.
“I found out about Tottenham’s interest through social networks,” said Foyth. “I would like to play in Europe, if something comes up that convinces me and the club I will go. I know that my agent and Veron are able to travel over the Tottenham issue. I am feeling relaxed, on the outside of things,” he added.
