Roma are pushing to land alleged Tottenham target Juan Foyth.

Estudiantes defender Juan Foyth has been quoted by Sky Italia’s Gianluca Di Marzio as saying that Roma have made an offer to sign him, just hours after Tottenham were claimed to be interested.

Foyth, 19, has come up through the ranks with local club Estudiantes having been born in La Plata, and he has now become a first-team player.

The centre back only stands at 5ft 11in tall, relatively short for a central defender, but he has earned rave reviews for his performances for Estudiantes.

Foyth may have only made a handful of first-team appearances, but he has also featured for the Argentina Under-20’s, playing at the recent World Cup and even starting in the 3-0 defeat to England.

Foyth has done enough to attract interest though, and The Mirror report that Spurs are interested in signing him this summer after he was recommended to manager Maurico Pochettino.

Pochettino, a former Argentinian international centre back, may well feel that he can develop Foyth into a star over the coming years, but he will have to move quickly if he wants to land him.

Foyth has today been quoted by Sky Italia’s Gianluca Di Marzio as saying that he has spoken to his agent, and there is an offer on the table from Italian giants Roma.

“I read the news on social media and I asked my agent for more information,” said Foyth. “They have confirmed that the offer is real. Roma is one of the most important squads in the world. I would like to play there,” he added.

With Kevin Wimmer seemingly set to leave Tottenham this summer, Pochettino will surely want more depth at centre back, and Foyth could be a player to bring to North London this summer.

Yet, with Roma making moves to land him and potentially pair him up with ex-Spurs defender Federico Fazio, Tottenham may be running out of time to land the teenager.
