According to the Liverpool Echo, Everton have turned their attentions to signing Bayern Munich left-back Juan Bernat, and he could be an ideal addition at Goodison Park.

Everton are in dire need of a new left-back, as their current options in the position are weak.

The Toffees have been forced to use Cuco Martina out of position at left-back this season, and the former Southampton man has struggled.

Everton’s only other senior options in the position are Leighton Baines and Luke Garbutt.

Baines is not currently available, due to injury, and he has shown signs of age in recent times anyway.

Garbutt, meanwhile, has not featured at all for the Toffees and Allardyce appears to have doubts over utilising the 24-year-old.

Bernat is of proven quality though, and he would bring with him experience of playing in the Champions League and winning the Bundesliga.

Bernat is capable going forward, but he also possesses a lot of defensive quality and he could be an upgrade on Baines, over the long-term.

And if Everton are working on a deal to sign Bernat, then it should be seen as a very exciting transfer by supporters at Goodison Park.
