Tottenham Hotspur thrashed Liverpool at Wembley last season.
Liverpool boss Jürgen Klopp addressed the media today, ahead of his side’s clash with Tottenham at Wembley tomorrow, and shared how last season’s hammering by Spurs actually served as invaluable experience for his team, as quoted by the Liverpool Echo.
Mauricio Pochettino’s side were quite simply sensational during their 4-1 win over the Reds last term, but a lot has changed since that day.
Liverpool spent nearly £180 million on four players during the summer transfer window, whilst Tottenham failed to sign a single player, and many are tipping Klopp’s men to push Manchester City all the way for the Premier League title this term.
Klopp spoke to reporters today, and highlighted how his side being taught a lesson by Spurs last term was a valuable learning tool for them, as quoted by the Liverpool Echo:
“It was a very difficult game for us because we made big mistakes around their goals. It was after we won 7-0 v Maribor. It was kind of a wake-up call for the players.”
