Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp addressed the media ahead of Saturday evening’s clash with West Bromwich Albion in the Premier League.
Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp has said that goalkeeper Loris Karius has to improve at the club but is confident his summer signing from Mainz will do just that, the Liverpool Echo blog on his press conference reports.
Karius has started each of the last four games, and was in goal for the Reds’ first Premier League clean sheet of the season against Manchester United on Monday night.
However, there have been one or two teething problems when it comes to dealing with crosses and misplaced passes – though neither have proved costly just yet.
Klopp told reporters at his press conference, as per the Liverpool Echo: “It’s a very good start, that’s how it is. We watched him for a long time, last two years he was outstanding.
“It’s about collecting experience. It was not perfect, there was one situation (against United) but you take that risk for the goalkeeper who plays.
“He has to improve and he can improve, but I feel quite confident. Everything is good.”
Klopp’s side entertain West Bromwich Albion in the Saturday evening kick-off at Anfield where the Reds are likely to face another side that will set up to frustrate them, but Klopp seems prepared for the visit of Tony Pulis’s side.
Liverpool will aim to keep up the pressure on Manchester City, Arsenal and Tottenham ahead of them in the table – with two points currently separating the top four.
Some have suggested the Reds have now got a favourable run of games, but have also pointed out that in the past they are the kind of games they have struggled with.
He added: “We want to win. It’s why we want to meet on Saturday. Let’s go for it.
“There is no easy way to go through them. Each set piece is a threat – for every team, not just us – because they’re good at them.
“If we can stay confident, there will always be a chance.”
Klopp confirmed that Georginio Wijnaldum is in contention to return to the side after missing Monday’s draw with a hip injury. Adam Lallana could also start after being used a second-half substitute against United.
Klopp said that no-one who took part on Monday is ruled out of the clash with the Baggies this weekend.
