Duncan Watmore has thanked the Sunderland fans for their role in earning the Black Cats a point in their last game against West Brom, speaking to safc.com.
David Moyes’ side had gone a goal behind in the first half courtesy of Nacer Chadli, but they managed to find an equaliser in the 84th minute rescued a point for the home side, and Watmore has thanked the supporters for helping them get that goal.

“The lads kept going but to be honest the fans kept us going and they earned us the point so we have to thank them,” Watmore told safc.com.
“We want to give them points to cheer about so hopefully we can give them three next time instead of the one.”
The 22-year-old was instrumental in Sunderland’s equaliser, picking the ball up on the edge of the West Brom box before darting into the area, then pulling it back across the face of goal for Patrick van Aanholt to bundle in.

The youngster had endured a difficult afternoon against the Baggies, constantly dribbling past players without finding that final ball, but Watmore came up trumps when it mattered and created the equaliser Sunderland fans were begging for.
Despite their troubles on the pitch, the loyalty of Sunderland fans can never be brought into question, with the Wearside faithful constantly turning up in their thousands despite witnessing years of misery on and off the pitch.
If Moyes’ side can start to get things right on the pitch, it will be the players in red and white rather than the fans who are earning the points that Sunderland need to climb up the Premier League table.
