Watford were knocked out of the EFL Cup in extra time by Gillingham.

Watford crashed out of the EFL Cup to League One side Gillingham, losing 2-1 in extra time.
The Hornets took the lead in the 58th minute through Odion Ighalo, but were pegged back in the 82nd minute by Gillingham, with Mark Byrne striking late on to take the game to extra time.

Gillingham then completed the comeback in the first half of extra time when Bradley Dack put the away side in front from close range in the 102nd minute.
Watford were unable to find an equaliser against their lower league opponents, exiting the EFL Cup at the first hurdle and joining West Brom as the only Premier League sides not to make it into the third round on Tuesday night.

Walter Mazzarri handed a debut to Younes Kaboul, who moved to Vicarage Road from Sunderland due to personal reasons, and also started captain Troy Deeney, but it wasn’t enough to get past the Gills.

On what was an embarrassing night for Watford, fans have taken to Twitter to express their feelings, ranging from anger to hilarity.
