After becoming the first Premier League side to beat West Ham at the London Stadium and then beat Manchester United, Watford came crashing back down to earth, losing 2-0 to Burnley.

Walter Mazzarri’s side went in to the game in high spirits as the form team out of the pair, but it was Sean Dyche’s men who went in front. Burnley took the lead in the 38th minute through club record signing Jeff Hendrick, heading home Steven Defour’s corner.

Five minutes into the second half, the home side doubled their lead when centre back Michael Keane headed home in the 50th minute after Watford only half cleared a corner.

It was an abject performance from the Hornets, who looked as they had begun to find their feet under new manager Mazzarri.

One of the poorest performers for Watford was Odion Ighalo, who has just one goal to his name this season, and is yet to capture the form he had last season where he was one of the league’s top scorers.

It was a long journey for fans of the London club to make on a Monday night, and they were given nothing to shout about, seeing their side fail to find the net and drop into the bottom half of the Premier League.

After a disappointing showing, Watford fans have reacted on Twitter to Ighalo’s performance.
