While most people who are not fans of Manchester United enjoy watching the Red Devils get beat, Sunderland fans will not have enjoyed seeing one that got away Jeremain Lens causing them so many problems in the Europa League.
Jose Mourinho’s side were in Turkey to take on Fenerbache, having beaten them 4-1 at Old Trafford, but things were not quite as easy away from home.

Moussa Sow put Fenerbache ahead with a sensational over-head kick, and their lead was doubled when Dutch forward Lens bent a free-kick past David De Gea. Lens moved to Turkey on loan from Sunderland in a move that shocked a lot of fans on Wearside as they witnessed one of the more talented members of their side leave what was already a threadbare squad.
If it was not hard enough to watch Lens perform on the European stage while the Black Cats sit bottom of the Premier League, the win was orchestrated by former manager Dick Advocaat, who left the club last season.
