Adnan Januzaj has been ruled out for up to six weeks with an ankle injury, safc.com have reported.

The winger, who is on loan from Manchester United, picked up the injury in Sunderland’s home defeat to Crystal Palace on Saturday. The 21-year-old returned to the side having missed the cup tie with QPR due to suspension after being sent off against Tottenham.

The Belgian has had a mixed start to his spell in red and white, dazzling fans with his dribbling ability, gliding past players as if they aren’t there, before failing deliver an end product, much to the frustration of the Sunderland faithful.

Despite his hit and miss performances, the injury to Januzaj is a blow to David Moyes, who already has a thin squad to begin with.
