The midfielder scored in Newcastle United’s 3-0 win over Ipswich Town.

Newcastle United winger Matt Ritchie has spoken to nufc.co.uk about his delight at getting back on the score sheet against Ipswich Town.
The summer signing got the Magpies’ third goal on Saturday, linking up with Ayoze Perez and bending the ball into the bottom corner with the outside of his left boot.
The strike was Ritchie’s third goal of the season, and the Scotland international was happy to get one after missing some big chances in previous games.

“I’ve been beating myself up a little bit,” Ritchie told nufc.co.uk.
“I’ve had a couple of chances of late. I had one against Norwich late on and I had one in the first half as well that I probably should have done a bit better with.
“I was delighted to get the goal in the end, but most importantly the three points and put them out of sight.”

The victory extends Newcastle’s lead at the top of the Championship to three points and they have now won five games in a row. Although he was arguably not at his best for the full 90 minutes, Ritchie was instrumental when it mattered, picking out Perez brilliantly for the second goal before getting in on the act himself to add a bit more gloss to the result.
Ritchie has been a creative force for Rafael Benitez’s side this season, often being the provider of goals, but he probably has not got on the score sheet himself as much as he had hoped.
On a day when chances were not falling for Dwight Gayle, Newcastle needed someone else to get the goals, and Ritchie was more than happy to oblige after a mini drought.
