Neil Warnock’s bright start as Cardiff City manager continued with a 2-1 win over Nottingham Forest.
Cardiff City manager Neil Warnock has told Wales Online that the reason they conceded a late penalty against Nottingham Forest was because the referee wanted to make the game a bit more exciting.
The Welsh club were in total control of the game, leading 2-0 with a man advantage when referee Andy Woolmer pointed to the spot, penalising Aron Gunnarsson for a foul on Henri Lansbury, which the Forest man converted.
With no time for a full comeback from Forest, Warnock was able to joke about the penalty decision after the full time whistle.

“I said to my assistant [Kevin Blackwell] with about five minutes to go, ‘something’s going to happen here because it’s too straightforward’,” Warnock told Wales Online.
“I think the referee Andy [Woolmer], who is a really good referee, I think he was just a bit bored and wanted to make it a bit more exciting for the last few minutes.”
While it is great to have the colourful and charismatic Warnock back in the Football League, you cannot help but think he would have been seething had that penalty cost his new side victory. Fortunately he was able to joke about the decision, showing why he is such a favourite for fans and the media.

It was been a strong start for the new Bluebirds boss, who has picked up seven points from his first three games in charge, with the latest victory moving Cardiff out of the relegation zone.
Next up for Cardiff, it is a home game against Wigan.
