Former Liverpool forward Luis Garcia pays homage to his Champions League goal in 2005.

Former Liverpool forward Luis Garcia has the perfect Halloween costume if you are a fan of the reds, and one of the worst if you follow Chelsea.

The Spaniard famously scored the goal that never was back in 2005, and for this year’s Halloween he has dressed up as the ghost goal that haunts Chelsea supporters.

Happy Halloween!! Some will find it funny…others Scary! #Halloween #Ghost

Garcia posted a picture of himself on his personal Instagram account dressed in the least creative costume known to man – the bed sheet over the head to make you look like a ghost – but turned it into one of the funniest of the year as he stands next to goal with a Champions League ball at his feet.

The costume is in reference to the 2005 Champions League semi final second leg at Anfield between Liverpool and Chelsea. After drawing 0-0 at Stamford Bridge, Luis Garcia ‘scored’ the only goal of the game to send Rafael Benitez’s side to the final and dump Jose Mourinho’s team out of the competition.

The goal was a contentious one, with the ball seemingly not crossing the line, but it was given and the Reds went on to win the final, beating AC Milan on penalties after coming from three goals down to take the tie to extra time.

Liverpool fans will love Garcia even more for this picture, whereas the Chelsea supporters will feel like they have seen a ghost.
