The Welsh midfielder scored both goals in Stoke City’s 2-0 win over Sunderland.

Geoff Cameron has admitted that Joe Allen’s goal-scoring exploits have some as a surprise to everybody while speaking to the Daily Star.
The Wales international has scored four goals already in his short Stoke career, bagging a brace in the 2-0 win over Sunderland on Saturday and his teammate has been full of praise for the surprising goal hero.

“I don’t think anybody really expected these goals but they do call him the Welsh Pirlo,” Cameron told the Daily Star.
“With Wilfried Bony, Marko Arnautovic and those guys being unlucky at the moment, the ball just seems to find Joe’s feet and he’s at the right place at the right time.”
The Potters have had a difficult start to the Premier League, but they got their first win of the season at the expense of the Black Cats, who remained dead last in the table without a league win to their name.

Stoke’s poor start came as a surprise, with so many talented forwards in their squad, but not many would have included Allen on that list.
Usually deployed as a holding midfielder for his country as well as his previous clubs Liverpool and Swansea, the summer signing has been more advanced under Mark Hughes, and has taken on the responsibility of getting Stoke’s goals while his teammates struggle to find the net.
The nickname the Welsh Pirlo probably does Allen a disservice, having been a figure of ridicule during his time at Liverpool, but with his beard and long hair like the Italy legend, Stoke’s number four is proving to be one of the best signings of the summer.
