Fabio Borini has sent a post-operation update to Sunderland fans after being ruled out of action with a groin injury.
The Italian forward tore an adductor ligament at St Mary’s last weekend, having only just returned from a toe injury.

The 25-year-old was included in Sunderland’s starting line up against Southampton, but was replaced after 64 minutes by Duncan Watmore after picking up an injury when taking a free kick.
The initial diagnosis stated that the bleach-blonde star would be out of action for three months, but Borini has taken to Twitter to state that he hopes to be back “as soon as possible”.
The injury to the Sunderland talisman is a huge blow for manager David Moyes, who already had limited options in attack before Borini’s injury.

Sunderland’s number nine had started two of the club’s opening three games, playing in behind striker Jermain Defoe, who will now have even more pressure on his shoulders to score.
The Black Cats have announced the signing of Victor Anichebe on a free transfer following his release from West Brom, but red and white strikers are still hard to come by and the Sunderland faithful will be hoping that Borini can make a speedy return to fitness.
