Watford host Manchester United at Vicarage Road this weekend. Here is a look back at the last 5 meetings between these two sides.

1) Watford 1-2 Man Utd (Premier League – 26th August, 2006)

Man Utd took all three points at Vicarage Road, thanks to goals from Mikael Silvestre and Ryan Giggs. Damien Francis did score for a Watford team that included future United-man, Ashley Young. Aidy Boothroyd’s side couldn’t prevent United from continuing their 100% start to the season and Watford would have to wait until the start of November for their first league win.

2) Man Utd 4-0 Watford (Premier League – 31st January, 2007)

The reverse fixture saw Man Utd easily dispose of the Hornets. Goals from Cristiano Ronaldo, Lloyd Doyley (OG), Henrik Larsson and Wayne Rooney helped United to their 9th home victory in a row. Watford were left still looking for their first away win of the season.

3) Watford 1-4 Man Utd (FA Cup Semi-Final – 14th April, 2007)

Watford’s hopes of reaching the FA Cup final were ended by a rampant Man Utd side. Hameur Bouazza brought Watford back into the game, after an early strike from Rooney put United ahead. Only two minutes later, Ronaldo restored United’s lead and further goals from Rooney and Kieran Richardson secured Sir Alex Ferguson’s side a place in the final against Chelsea.

4) Watford 1-2 Man Utd (Premier League – 21st November, 2015)

Late drama at Vicarage Road saw Troy Deeney score goals at both ends. It looked as though Deeney had earnt Watford a late point when he beat David de Gea from the penalty spot in the 87th minute. However, Quique Sanchez Flores’ side could not hang on, as Deeney turned Bastian Schweinsteiger’s cross into his own net. The result saw United move up into 2nd place behind Leicester City. Watford remained in 13th place.

5) Man Utd 1-0 Watford (Premier League – 2nd March, 2016)

Watford were once again undone by a late Man Utd goal, as Juan Mata’s free-kick gave Louis Van Gaal’s side the win. Watford were unlucky not to take the lead against a young United side featuring Marcus Rashford, Timothy Fosu-Mensah and Guillermo Varela. The victory moved United on level points with Manchester City but still ten points behind leaders Leicester. Meanwhile, Watford still sat comfortably in 12th place – 3 points shy of the 40 point mark.
