We catch up with the players linked to Leeds United last summer.

With Garry Monk exiting the club, a busy summer transfer window awaits Leeds United. Let us take this opportunity to remember the players linked to the club last summer and see how they got on this season.

Defenders Rico Henry (rumour via the Daily Mail), Jack Hobbs (Yorkshire Evening Post), Conor McLaughlin (Blackpool Gazette) and Joleon Lescott (Telegraph) all featured in the Leeds rumour mill last year.

Henry swapped Walsall for Brentford late on in the summer transfer window. But the 19-year-old left-back didn’t make his Bees debut until February after picking up a shoulder injury. Henry’s return coincided with a strong set of run-in results for Dean Smith’s side.

Nottingham Forest centre-back Hobbs was restricted to just nine appearances this season. The former Liverpool and Leicester City man did start in the victories over Rotherham United and Bristol City.

McLaughlin came painfully close to sealing promotion from League One with Fleetwood Town. He played 42 times for the Trawlermen and captained Uwe Rosler’s side in Nathan Pond’s absence. The Northern Ireland international is now expected to get a Championship move this summer.

It has been back-to-back Premier League relegations for Lescott. The former Aston Villa man had a brief stint playing for Greek side AEK before returning to England with Sunderland in the winter transfer window. Lescott, 34, made one start for David Moyes’ side, which came in the 5-1 final day defeat to Chelsea.

Andile Jali (Daily Star), Anthony Limbombe (Yorkshire Evening Post) and Danny Williams (Reading Chronicle) were among the midfielders linked with a move to Elland Road.

Jali missed much of the early stages of KV Oostende’s campaign. The defensive midfielder, who has since featured 16 times in all competitions, recently started in the 3-2 Jupiler League play-off defeat to Anderlecht.

Limbombe has been competiting against Jali in the Belgian top-flight after joining Club Brugge in July. The winger, who featured in their Champions League group stage meeting with Leicester City back in November, set up Brugge’s winner againt KAA Gent last week.

Reading’s Danny Williams has been in fine form for Championship play-off finalists Reading. The American midfielder has made 46 appearances in all competitions for the Royals, scoring in wins over Ipswich, Burton Albion and Brentford.

According to The Daily Star, Ashley Fletcher were both rumoured to be interesting Leeds.

Fletcher is yet to find his first Premier League goal for West Ham United. The 21-year-old, who scored against his former club Manchester United in the EFL Cup, made 14 league substitute appearances for Slaven Bilic’s side.
