Here are the player ratings for West Brom’s 1-1 draw away at Sunderland.

West Bromwich Albion and Sunderland played out a 1-1 draw on Saturday with the Black Cats netting a late equaliser, doing to the Baggies what Tony Pulis’s side did to Stoke City last weekend.

Here we take a look at how West Brom’s players fared in the encounter:

Ben Foster – 6

A tidy performance from Foster who was not forced to make any big saves. Noticeably, he distributed the ball quicker than in recent weeks which helped Albion on the counter attack.

Craig Dawson – 7

Dawson turned in another good performance and linked up well with Phillips on the right. He did play Defoe onside for his early chance.

Gareth McAuley – 6

Albion’s back four were stretched by the pace and movement of Defoe and Watmore. Apart from that, it was a typically solid McAuley performance.

Jonny Evans – 7

Evans’ superb last ditch block denied Defoe an equaliser. Another good performance against his former side but he was troubled at times by Sunderland’s pace.

Allan Nyom – 6

Nyom is proving himself to be a shrewd summer signing. The ex-Watford man fits perfectly into West Brom’s back four even though he is being played out of position.

Matt Phillips – 7

Phillips is starting to show some form in a West Brom shirt. He enjoyed himself in the first half and drifted inside to assist Chadli for the opening goal. Hopefully, his performances continues to improve after the international break.

Darren Fletcher – 6

Fletcher does an important but unspectacular job for the team by offering stability alongside the sometimes erratic Claudio Yacob. The West Brom skipper forced a good save from Pickford with his long range drive.

Claudio Yacob – 6

It is always unnerving when Yacob picks up an early yellow but his fantastic tackle helped create Albion’s opener.

James McClean – 6

McClean handled the Sunderland fans’ taunts well and caused problems for Javier Manquillo. He should have done better with his chance just before half time. Subbed for Gardner

Nacer Chadli – 8

The Belgian was at the centre of every West Brom counter attack. Chadli picks up some wonderful positions and does a great job supporting Rondon. He took his goal brilliantly and is just what this Tony Pulis side needs. Subbed for James Morrison in stoppage time.

Salomon Rondon – 6

The Baggies no.9 worked hard but he wasn’t rewarded with a goal. He showed great power and pace to create a second half opportunity for himself but Pickford kept out his shot. Subbed for Hal Robson-Kanu on 94 minutes.

Sub: Craig Gardner – 5

Gardner put in his usual shift off the bench but his introduction couldn’t stop Sunderland getting back into the game.
