Some Watford supporters were left frustrated by Walter Mazzarri’s decisions in their 1-1 draw with West Ham United.
Watford surrendered a one-goal lead as West Ham United took a point away from Vicarage Road.
The Hornets were awarded an early penalty as ex-Hammers forward Mauro Zarate was hauled down in the penalty box by Cheikhou Kouyate. Troy Deeney stepped up to make it four goals in five league appearances by hammering home the ball past Darren Randolph in visitors goal.
After an improved second-half performance, Slaven Bilic’s side were rewarded with a 73rd-minute equaliser. Michail Antonio burst free of Younes Kaboul and his low-drive came back off the post gifting Andre Ayew the simplest of tap-ins.
West Ham finished the game with 10-men when Antonio was shown a second yellow card for deliberate handball.
The result sees the Hornets maintain a 10-point gap over the relegation zone, but some supporters were unhappy at Walter Mazzarri’s choice of substitutes. When Zarate came off injured in the first half, the Italian boss opted to call on Abdoulaye Doucoure rather than Isaac Success.
Success had to wait until the 82nd minute to make his appearance as he replaced M’Baye Niang. The Nigerian forward could have grabbed a last-gasp win for the Hornets but he failed to connect with the ball from two yards out.
