We take a look at the last five meetings between Watford and Leicester City.

Watford 3-1 Leicester (12^th May, 2013 – Championship play-off semi-final second leg)

A breathtaking finale at Vicarage Road saw Watford overcome Leicester City in dramatic fashion to book their place in the play-off final.

The Hornets went into the meeting a goal behind on aggregate but Matej Vydra’s volley cancelled out the Foxes lead within fifteen minutes. David Nugent’s header put Nigel Pearson’s side back into an aggregate lead before Vydra once again pulled the hosts level.

Marco Cassetti brought down Anthony Knockaert for a Leicester penalty deep into injury-time, and the Frenchman stepped up to seal the Foxes place at Wembley. But he was denied by Manuel Almunia and Watford immediately launched a counter-attack. Deeney slammed home the winner to send the Hornets through and round off an unforgettable game.

Watford 0-3 Leicester (2^nd November, 2013 – Championship)

Knockaert and Leicester got their Vicarage Road redemption with an emphatic win the following season over Watford.

Leicester were gifted an early lead when Manuel Almunia’s routine clearance hit Chris Wood in the face and deflected in. Knockaert and Lloyd Dyer wrapped up the win with second half goals to give the Foxes their fourth win in a row.

Leicester 2-2 Watford (8^th February, 2014 – Championship)

Leicester came back from two goals down to keep an eleven point gap at the top of the Championship table.

Fernando Forestieri and Sean Murray gave the visitors a surprise advantage at the King Power Stadium but Matty James’ 43rd-minute volley brought the Foxes back into the game. The hosts pushed for an equaliser and were finally rewarded four minutes into injury-time when Danny Drinkwater’s fine strike beat Almunia.

Leicester 2-1 Watford (7^th November, 2015 – Premier League)

Jamie Vardy was on the score sheet yet again for Leicester, as his side edged out Watford at the King Power.

Claudio Ranieri’s men went ahead when Heurelho Gomes failed to stop Ngolo Kante’s weak attempt in the 52nd minute. Vardy scored from the spot to extend his goal scoring run to nine successive games and double the home sides’ lead.

Watford responded through Deeney’s penalty but it only proved to be a consolidation. The result saw Leicester move level on points with leaders Manchester City, while Watford stayed in 11th.

Watford 0-1 Leicester (5^th March, 2016 – Premier League)

Leicester extended their lead at the summit of the Premier League courtesy of Riyad Mahrez’s delightful effort.

Mahrez bagged his 15th goal of the season to give the visitors a well-deserved victory over Quique Sanchez Flores’ Watford side.

The win saw Leicester move five points ahead of second-placed Tottenham and eight points ahead of third-placed Arsenal. Watford stayed in 12th – still three points shy of the magical 40 point mark.
