Ahead of their meeting at Vicarage Road, we take a look at the last five fixtures between Watford and Everton.

Watford 1-2 Everton (6^th January, 2001 – FA Cup third round)

Everton booked a place in the fourth round of the FA Cup with a late comeback at Vicarage Road.

Watford had taken a first half lead when Tommy Mooney fired the ball past Thomas Myhre in the Toffees’ goal. After missing a series of chances, it looked as though Everton were heading for a cup exit, but a hectic final ten minutes saw them turn it around.

Watford’s Rob Page saw red for a foul on Idan Tal, and Everton’s Stephen Hughes scored from the resulting free-kick. The visitors were also reduced to ten-men when Joe-Max Moore received a second booking, before Steve Watson grabbed an injury-time winner for the Merseyside club.

Everton 2-1 Watford (19^th August, 2006 – Premier League)

Watford were given a harsh welcome to the Premier League, as Everton got their season off to a winning start.

Andy Johnson scored on his home debut to put the hosts into a 15th-minute lead. A resilient Watford side pushed for an equaliser, but were left enraged by referee Paul Walton’s decision to award a penalty for a Chris Powell handball. Mikel Arteta tucked the penalty home, as Watford still had time to grab a consolation goal through Damien Francis.

Watford 0-3 Everton (24^th February, 2007 – Premier League)

Everton moved up to seventh place in the league with an emphatic win over Watford at Vicarage Road.

Manuel Fernandes and Andy Johnson gave David Moyes’ side a two goal advantage in the first half. Watford came close to getting back into the game, but substitute Tamas Priskin’s long-range strike went narrowly wide. Steve Kabba also came close for the hosts, before Leon Osman’s fine strike sealed Everton’s win.

Everton 2-2 Watford (8^th August, 2015 – Premier League)

Arouna Kone’s late equaliser denied Watford a winning return to the Premier League.

The Hornets had taken an early lead through Miguel Layun, and held on until the 76th minute when Ross Barkley’s tantalising strike beat Heurelho Gomes. Watford restored their lead with just seven minutes to go, as Odion Ighalo struck his first Premier League goal. However, the visitors couldn’t hold on and Kone bagged an 86th-minute leveller.

Watford 1-1 Everton (9^th April, 2016 – Premier League)

Everton threw away their lead to drop to 14th in the Premier League.

The Toffees went ahead through James McCarthy, who capitalised on a mistake from Miguel Britos in the first minute of first half stoppage time. Their lead only lasted a minute, as Watford punished sloppy play from Everton to win a corner and equalise through Jose Holebas.

The point inched Watford toward Premier League safety, sitting in 15^th place on 38 points.
