Swansea City beat Stoke City 2-0 at the Liberty Stadium.
Veteran midfielder Leon Britton received praise from Swansea City supporters on Twitter following their 2-0 win over Stoke City.
The Swans took a 10th minute lead when Spanish forward Fernando Llorente headed past the returning Jack Butland in the Potters’ goal.
Saido Berahino had chances to level for Mark Hughes’ men, but failed to bag his first goal for the club since arriving from West Bromwich Albion in January.
Stoke were given another big opportunity to get back into the game when Marco Arnautovic, who was in an offside position, played the ball to Xherdan Shaqiri in the host’s penalty box. Shaqiri was then brought down by Federico Fernandez prompting referee Michael Oliver to award a penalty.
Arnautovic stepped up to take the spot-kick, but sent the ball flying over the crossbar.
The miss proved costly for the visitors. Moments later, Swansea went up the other end and doubled their led through Tom Carroll. The former Tottenham Hotspur youngster’s long-range strike came off Joe Allen to beat England international Butland.
Victory keeps Swansea two points off 17th place following Hull City’s 2-0 home win over Watford. The Swans face a tough trip to Old Trafford next Sunday before kicking-off their May fixtures with the visit of Ronald Koeman’s Everton.
