Find out how the Football Manager 2017 winter update has affected Sunderland’s player ratings.

Football Manager 2017, the latest in the popular football management simulation series, released its winter update this week. As Sunderland find themselves in another battle against the drop, let’s see how Football Manager have rated their progression:

Improvement

Jermain Defoe remains Sunderland’s highest rated player, after netting fourteen league goals for the Black Cats.

Jeremain Lens, who is currently out on-loan with Turkish side Fenerbahce, has been handed marked improvement to his stats which sees him level in ability with Defoe.

Jordan Pickford’s outstanding efforts in goal for Sunderland have been reflected in a big increase in his ability on FM17. Target-man Victor Anichebe has also seen a boost in his attributes following an impressive run of form for David Moyes’ side.

No improvement

The majority of Sunderland’s squad have had their stats lowered, or kept the same.

Wahbi Khazri, Billy Jones, Paddy McNair, Fabio Borini and John O’Shea are among the players to see little or no change to their rating on the game.

Whereas, Steven Pienaar, Vito Mannone and Jan Kirchhoff have all struggled to find their best form for Sunderland this campaign, and their FM17 stats have declined as a result.
