Stoke City were beaten 2-1 by Liverpool on Saturday.
Stoke City supporters took to Twitter to question manager Mark Hughes’ future following their 2-1 home defeat to Liverpool.
Stoke went ahead just before half-time when Jonathan Walters headed home Xherdan Shaqiri’s cross. Former Liverpool midfielder Charlie Adam had a fantastic opportunity to double the hosts’ advantaged, but he failed to beat Simon Mignolet from yards out.
The miss proved costly as Jurgen Klopp brought off youngsters Trent Alexander-Arnold and Ben Woodburn for Philippe Coutinho and Roberto Firmino. The Brazilian substitutes both got on the scoresheet to complete a two-minute turnaround for the Reds.
Saido Berahino came close to bagging the equaliser – and his first Stoke goal – but he was denied by another fine Mignolet save.
Defeat sees Stoke drop to 13th in the Premier League table with clashes against relegation-threatened sides Hull City and Swansea City to come over the next fortnight. The Potters worrying run of form – four defeats from their last four – has led some supporters to call Hughes’ future into question.
The Welshman replaced Tony Pulis in 2013 and led his team to 9th place finishes in his first three seasons at the helm. With Stoke sitting just a point off 10th place Watford, there’s still a chance Hughes will keep his top half record intact.
