Norwich City captain Russell Martin had some honest words following the Canaries’ 5-0 defeat to Brighton & Hove Albion in an interview with the club’s official YouTube channel.
Norwich endured a nightmare second half at the American Express Community Stadium, conceding four goals in the final 30 minutes.
Speaking after the game, Martin called his side’s performance “rubbish” and admitted that “too many lads gave up.” The defender, who started his professional career with Brighton, went on to say that the result left him embarrassed.
Martin revealed that there was a frank discussion in the dressing room following the defeat and questioned how his teammates would respond next weekend against Leeds United.
Norwich manager Alex Neil also called the defeat his “worst defeat as a manager.”
