Find out how the Football Manager 2017 winter update has affected West Bromwich Albion’s player ratings.

Football Manager 2017, the latest in the popular football management simulation series, released its winter update this week. With West Bromwich Albion exceeding all expectations in the top half of the Premier League table, let’s see how Football Manager has rated their progress:

No improvement

Despite endearing himself to West Brom fans with his tireless running and enigmatic approach to the game, Allan Nyom’s stats have largely stayed the same. The former Watford right-back is still one of the lowest rated senior players in the Albion squad.

Fellow fullback Craig Dawson, who is rated only slightly higher than Nyom, has retained the same ability on the winter update.

There have also been no changes for Salomon Rondon, Darren Fletcher and Claudio Yacob.

Rondon’s seven league goals, including a hat-trick against Swansea City in December, have not been enough to see a rise in the Venezuelan’s attributes. Meanwhile, ever-present Albion captain Fletcher and tough-tackling Yacob have seen no improvement.

Minor Improvement

Even though they haven’t seen much first-team football in recent months, Hal Robson-Kanu and James McClean have both recieved minor improvements to their FM17 stats.

McClean’s impressive run of form during late September and October is surely the reason behind his increase, while Robson-Kanu remains one of the Baggies’ lowest rated outfield players.

James Morrison, Gareth McAuley and Ben Foster have all been integral to West Brom’s excellent season, and have been rewarded with a small bump in their attributes.

Big improvement

The improvements to Jonny Evans’ and Nacer Chadli’s stats have seen them surpass Rondon to become West Brom’s joint highest rated players on the game.

Chadli’s flying start to life at the Hawthorns may be the reasoning behind his increase. Whereas, Evans has consistently been one of Albion’s best players since he joined in the summer of 2015.

The most improved Baggies players on the new FM17 update are Chris Brunt and Matt Phillips.

Brunt has bounced back from a serious injury that kept him out of the 2016 European Championships to reclaim his spot as one of Albion’s most valuable players. While Phillips’ stats have risen in accordance with his impressive goals and assists record that has been a big catalyst for West Brom’s run this season.
