We take a look back at the last five meetings between Derby County and Sheffield Wednesday.

Sheff Wed 0-1 Derby (18^th February, 2014 – Championship)

Patrick Bamford’s wonderful long-range strike handed Derby County an important win in their push for automatic promotion. Sheffield Wednesday had looked the better side and more likely to find a winner with Glenn Loovens’ header cleared off the line by Craig Bryson.

Michail Antonio also had chances to put the Owls ahead before Bamford collected a pass from Andre Wisdom and curled the ball past Chris Kirkland. The win saw Derby leapfrog QPR into 3^rd in the league, while Wednesday remained in 17^th.

Sheff Wed 0-0 Derby (16^th August, 2014 – Championship)

These two sides played out a goalless draw to maintain their unbeaten starts to the season. Kieran Westwood was in fine form to deny Derby substitute Johnny Russell on two occasions. Chris Maguire came closest for Wednesday but his free-kick struck the woodwork.

Derby 3-2 Sheff Wed (21^st February, 2015 – Championship)

There was no shortage of goals in their next encounter, as Derby secured a late comeback to move top of the Championship. Lewis McGugan’s stunning free-kick had given Stuart Gray’s side the lead before Jake Buxton pulled Derby level shortly after half-time. Wednesday got their second through Will Keane but Buxton equalised again heading home another corner.

In the closing stages of the game, Westwood saw red for bringing down Tom Ince in the penalty area. Darren Bent converted the penalty to send Derby above Middlesbrough in the table; defeat meant Wednesday dropped to 12^th place.

Sheff Wed 0-0 Derby (6^th December, 2015 – Championship)

There wasn’t much entertainment on show in a game that saw only three shots on target. Derby’s best chance came late in the game when Bradley Johnson hit the crossbar from an indirect free-kick. It was Wednesday who looked most likely to break the deadlock but they couldn’t find a way past Lee Grant. A point kept Paul Clement’s Derby in 3^rd with Wednesday eight points behind in 7^th.

Derby 1-1 Sheff Wed (23^rd April, 2016 – Championship)

Derby’s unbeaten run against the Owls continued with another draw at the iPro Stadium. Barry Bannan had put Wednesday ahead with a magnificent 30 yard strike but Darren Bent grabbed a late equaliser just minutes after coming on as a substitute.

The draw was Wednesday’s third in a row and helped inch them towards securing their play-off place. The Rams’ had already secured their play-off spot and extended their unbeaten run against Sheffield Wednesday which dates back to 2006.
