We find out how the likes of Odion Ighalo and Matej Vydra are getting on at their new clubs.

Matej Vydra

Vydra made the permanent switch to Championship side Derby County in the summer following a mixed spell on loan with Reading.

The former Udinese man has been a regular starter for the Rams, although he is yet to recapture the goal-scoring form which made him a favourite at Vicarge Road. Three of the five goals he has scored this season came during a four-game run last month.

Ikechi Anya

Vydra was joined at Pride Park by pacey wing-back Anya.

The Scotland international began the season as first-choice under Steve McClaren before losing his place in November. Anya, 29, has largely been utilised as a substitute since then. In his most recent start, he set up Jacob Butterfield’s late equaliser against Huddersfield Town.

Almen Abdi

Abdi is out for the reminder of the season following surgery on his knee.

The injury compiles a miserable season for the 30-year-old, who has struggled to make an impact at Sheffield Wednesday. Abdi was restricted to 11 starts for the play-off hopefuls.

Daniel Pudil

The move to Wednesday has been rosier for left-back Pudil.

He has faced competition from former Charlton man Morgan Fox for the fullback berth and still made 24 appearances so far this season. Pudil scored his second of the campaign in the recent 2-1 win over Queens Park Rangers.

Allan Nyom

Nyom has endeared himself to West Bromwich Albion supporters with his performances at left-back. The Cameroonian’s mazy runs from fullback are a highlight for many in the Hawthorns crowd, although his form has dipped slightly in recent weeks, including a poor performance in his return to Vicarage Road.

Adlene Guedioura

Guedioura’s is yet to taste victory as a Middlesbrough player.

The 31-year-old looks set to be playing Championship football next season after joining Boro in January. So far, he came off the bench in defeats to Tottenham, Crystal Palace, Stoke and Hull before losing his place in the match day squad under new manager Steve Agnew.

Miguel Layun

Layun plays alongside former Real Madrid man Iker Casillas at title-chasing Porto.

The Mexican international got off to a flying start in Portuguese football with three assists in his first four games. However, the right-back’s season was disrupted by an abductor muscle injury suffered in November which has seen him lose his starting place to Maxi Pereira.

Layun, 28, did featured in both legs of last month’s Champions League knockout stage defeat to Italian giants Juventus.

Jose Manuel Jurado

Juardo joined former Watford boss Quique Sanchez Flores at Espanyol in the summer.

The attacking midfielder, who also played under Flores at Atletico Madrid, is part of a Periquitos side flourishing in the top half of the La Liga table. Juardo has made 26 appearances so far this season, scoring in wins over Osasuna and Las Palmas.

Juanfran

Likewise, Juanfran’s move to Spain has gone to plan as his Deportivo La Coruna side look set to comfortably avoid relegation from La Liga. The defender didn’t make a single appearance during his time at Watford but continues to be a regular for the Branquiazuis.

Gabriele Angella

Angella is enjoying a string of starts for Udinese after spending most of their campaign on the bench.

Udinese boss Luigi Delneri drafted in the 27-year-old following a run of six defeats in eight. The Pozzo-owned club has since been unbeaten with Angella in the side, with the centre-back finding the back of the net in their recent 2-1 victory over Cagliari.

Essaid Belkalem

Ligue 2 outfit US Orleans was Belkalem’s destination in the summer. After making 23 appearances this season, his side appear destined for relegation to French football’s third tier.

Joel Ekstrand

Ekstrand has already played for two teams after ending his four year stay with Watford in July.

The centre-back failed to break into Lee Johnson’s plans at Championship strugglers Bristol City and moved to Rotherham United in February. He has only made one appearance for the Millers, who are already relegation to League One.

Odion Ighalo

Ighalo’s big-money move to the Chinese Super League hasn’t gotten off to the best of starts.

In his debut, the forward captained CC Yatai to a 5-1 defeat at the hands of Andre Villas-Boas’ Shanghai SIPG. After scoring a brace in the 3-2 loss versus SH Shenhua, Ighalo sat out Yatai’s first win of the season against HN Jianye.

Uche Ikpeazu and Sean Murray

These two Watford academy graduates are now plying their trade in League Two.

Murray switched Swindon Town for Colchester United in the winter transfer window, while Ikpeazu has scored six goals for Cambridge United this campaign. Their sides both have an outside chance of reaching the League Two play-offs.
