Chelsea centre-back believes there isn’t much wrong with United ahead of Sunday’s Stamford Bridge clash.
Gary Cahill is backing Manchester United and David Moyes to turn the corner “very, very soon”, he told Sky Sports News.
The England defender admits he is surprised at the nine-point gap between the two sides but is taking nothing for granted on Sunday.
He said: “You would have thought it would be a lot, lot tighter but Manchester United are obviously having a little blip in terms of results. It’s probably not going quite to plan.
“But, they’re obviously a strong outfit, for us it’s going to be a tough game.”
The former Aston Villa and Bolton Wanderers man spoke highly of his opposition, including Moyes.
He added: “I don’t see it as any sort of crisis. They’ve got a fantastic manager.
“They’ve got great players, in football you have a few weeks that don’t quite go to plan and then you get back on track. I see them being no different.”
“They are flourished with talent in their squad. That’s why I don’t see there being any dramas there.
“Of course they’ve slipped up and dropped more points than they would have liked to at this stage of the season but for us the game’s going to be just as tough and I see them turning a corner very, very soon.”
Cahill has established himself at Stamford Bridge since his arrival in January 2012 and has made 87 appearances for the Blues so far.
He played a key role in both Chelsea’s Champions League and Europa League triumphs and has also made himself a key player for Roy Hodgson’s England, and now has 22 caps to his name, including nine in 2013.
The 28-year-old initially battled with David Luiz this season for the right to partner Jose Mourinho’s first-choice centre-back John Terry but the Englishman has now won out over the Brazil star.
He has proved himself crucial to Mourinho’s cause in the Premier League this year, with the club keeping seven clean sheets on his 14 appearances as opposed to only one in seven games without him.
Furthermore, Chelsea have averaged 2.3 points per game with Cahill and only 1.6 without.
He may be worried about United, but if his form is anything to go by, United should be just as worried about him.
