Football Manager 2017, the latest in the popular football management simulation series, released its winter update this week. As Aston Villa battle to push up the Championship table, let’s see how Football Manager have rated their progress:
Improvement
Only a few Aston Villa players have seen their ability increase on FM17’s winter update.
Jonathan Kodjia is now Villa’s second highest rated player after netting twelve goals for the Championship club this season. Fellow summer signing James Chester has also been given an increase in his ability on the game, which sees him overtake Tommy Elphick.
18-year-old Andre Green, who featured in the recent wins over Derby County and Bristol City, is the most improved Villa player on the winter update.
No improvement
Jordan Amavi remains the highest rated Villa player on the game, despite there being no change in his ability. The likes of Gabby Agbonlahor, Albert Adomah and Lenardo Bacuna also kept similar stats to the start of the season.
Alan Hutton, who has played 24 times this season, remains one of Villa’s lowest rated senior players following a decrease to his attributes. He is joined by Mile Jedinak, Micah Richards and Aly Cissokho, as the Villa players whose stats have dropped.
The largest decrease in ability was handed to Nathan Baker. The centre-back has partnered James Chester at the heart of Villa’s defence in recent months, but he is now rated the same as goalkeeper Pierluigi Gollini.
