In their illustrious histories, these two sides have met 97 times.

Before they face off again in the EFL Cup, let’s take a look back at four exciting games between Nottingham Forest and Arsenal.
Arsenal 1-2 Nottingham Forest (FA Cup Sixth Round – 12th March, 1988)
Paul Wilkinson’s incredible long-range drive put Brian Clough’s side ahead just before half-time. A defence splitting pass from Nigel Clough sent Brian Rice through on goal and he finished to double Forest’s lead. Arsenal put Forest under relentless late pressure and pulled one back through David Rocastle. Forest held firm to reach Brian Clough’s first FA Cup Semi-Final.
Nottingham Forest 3-2 Arsenal (League Division One – 8th December, 1991)
Forest capitalised on mistakes in the Arsenal defence to take the lead through a wonderful strike from Ian Woan. They doubled their lead with a diving header from Teddy Sheringham, before delightful chip from Scot Gemmil put Forest into a seemingly unassailable lead.
However, Paul Merson provided the game with another tremendous chip to give Arsenal some hope. With twelve minutes remaining Alan Smith turned home a cross to set up a tense finale, but Forest held on to claim the victory.
Arsenal 3-3 Nottingham Forest (League Division One – 31st March, 1992)
A Lee Dixon penalty put Arsenal ahead at Highbury before a stunning strike from Ian Woan levelled the score. Nigel Clough’s deflected shot beat David Seaman to send Forest into a half-time led.
Forest extended their lead in the second-half when Roy Keane finished from close range. The game looked over until Paul Merson gave Arsenal cause for optimism with a late strike. Arsenal completed a remarkable comeback when Tony Adams prodded home a rebound from Alan Smith’s header.
Nottingham Forest 2-2 Arsenal (Premier League – 3rd December, 1994)
Stuart Pearce put Forest ahead midway through the first-half from the penalty spot. In the second-half, Arsenal drew level with Martin Keown’s first goal for the club. However, their joy didn’t last long as a minute later Forest regained the lead through a long-range strike from Bryan Roy.
Arsenal refused to be beaten and Lee Dixon’s cross was finished off by Paul Davis to earn the Gunners a draw.
