Jozy Altidore has sent a message to reported Tottenham Hotspur target and Juventus midfielder Weston McKennie on Instagram following his performance for the USA against England at the 2022 Qatar World Cup on Friday evening.

The 33-year-old former Villarreal and Sunderland striker has told McKennie, linked with a move to Antonio Conte’s Tottenham Hotspur in the January transfer window, to keep working to get the USA through to the last-16 stage of the World Cup.

Altidore scored 42 goals in 115 appearances for the USA.

McKennie played well for the Americans against England on Friday evening.

The match ended in a goalless draw.

USA could still book their place in the knockout rounds of the World Cup.

The 24-year-old produced a very dynamic display in the middle of the park for the Americans.

McKennie worked hard, drove the team forward from midfield, broke England’s attacking moves, and was one of the best players on the pitch.

According to CalcioMercato this week, Tottenham are favourites to sign McKennie from Juventus in the January transfer window.

Former Serie A champions Juventus are reportedly willing to sell the American star for €30m (£25m).

We covered the report here on HITC Sport.
