Newcastle United are said to be interested in signing Celtic defender Jozo Simunovic.
Jozo Simunovic’s comments back in January to the Daily Mail should offer Celtic reassurances that he won’t be moving anywhere in the upcoming transfer window.
Simunovic has been linked with a move to Newcastle United today, with the newly promoted Premier League side reportedly set to make a £9 million bid for the Croatian (Daily Mail).
However, Simunovic’s future was speculated about earlier this season – with Torino said to be interested in the centre-back.

And the 22-year-old was insistent that he wanted to remain with Celtic for the future – as he was so positive about the coming years with Brendan Rodgers’ side.
“I am very positive about life at Celtic. I am happy here,” Simunovic said.
“I want to be a part of Celtic’s future. Torino is behind me and I don’t think about them now. Thank God everything has been good for me at Celtic in the last few months.”

Simunovic would, therefore, have to have a big change of heart if he was to demand a move from Celtic now.
Although the bright lights of the Premier League can be appealing, Simunovic only needs to look around at Celtic’s current squad to see that a move to England doesn’t always work out.
The likes of Scott Sinclair, Moussa Dembele and Patrick Roberts have all had better times at Celtic this season than they would have had they have stayed in England.
And it would, therefore, come as a surprise if Simunovic did decide to move from Celtic to join Newcastle this summer – despite Rafael Benitez’s reported interest.
