According to Fabrizio Romano, Arsenal are now in the race to sign Raphinha from Leeds United.

The winger has been the Whites’ brightest spark this season. He’s their top goalscorer, and he’s continuously produced moments of absolute quality on the right wing.

Arsenal supporters will undoubtedly be excited by this rumour, but one man who may be absolutely buzzing if Arsenal sign Raphinha is Ian Wright.

Indeed, the former Gunners striker has made it no secret just how much he’s a fan of the Brazilian.

What’s been said?

Wright was full of praise for Raphinha on Match of the Day last year.

“I love them,” said Wright. “They are a joy to behold.”

“Raphinha from Rennes for £17 million. You think to yourself when you look at some of the wingers in this league that cost a little bit more than him and they aren’t doing half the things he’s doing.

Wright again had praise for Raphinha after his goal against Everton last season when speaking to Premier League Productions.

“It was a very good goal. I know Kalvin Phillips was the man of the match, but Raphinha, we saw the work he put in,” Wright said.

“He takes up that number 10 area, and you can see the difference in their fitness levels.”

Joy to watch

Wright said that Raphinha was a joy to behold in that Leeds team, and he’s absolutely right.

The Brazilian would certainly be able to give Bukayo Saka a run for his money if he were to join Arsenal, and his workrate and ability would quickly endear him to the Gunners’ fanbase.

If Arsenal manage to sign Raphinha, they’ll be getting an incredibly talented player who could absolutely light up the Emirates.
