Inter Milan icon Gianpiero Marini lauds Ivan Perisic for taking his game to another level this term amid reported transfer talks with Tottenham, while speaking with TuttoMercatoWEB.

Marini believes Perisic has played like a man reborn so far this season since Simone Inzaghi replaced Antonio Conte. The Nerazzurri hired the Italian in June after Conte upped and left the San Siro on the back of winning Serie A after disputing their plans for summer sales.

Perisic was a firm favourite of Conte’s plans at Inter Milan on route to the title last season. He made 32 appearances through the term and only sat out four games outside of injuries.

Perisic also gave Conte four goals, five assists and a robust engine on the now-Tottenham boss’ left-hand flank. Yet Marini feels Inzaghi has helped the Croatian find an even higher level to his game. He has scored three and assisted one goal in 13 Serie A outings so far.

“In my opinion, a huge compliment should be paid to Inzaghi because Perisic has been reborn,” Marini said. “It seems that he has the joy of going on the pitch and does everything he did not do before or did in part. This is also due to the coach.”

Perisic has also offered Inzaghi’s Inter one assist in five Champions League outings this season. He failed to create any in Europe under Conte last term, but did find the net once.

The 32-year-old’s goal also came at Real Madrid, and he may yet reunite with Conte next summer. Sport1 report Tottenham are in talks with Perisic over a transfer, as the £125k-a-week winger does not want to return to Germany when his Inter Milan contract expires.

Perisic will be a free agent from next June and Tuttosport note he made Inter Milan aware he will not sign new terms long ago, leaving the door open for a transfer to Tottenham.
