Joy for one Spurs player: Sky Sports pundit predicts Tottenham v Borussia Dortmund

Tottenham Hotspur take on Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League tonight.

Pundit Charlie Nicholas has told Sky Sports that he thinks Tottenham Hotspur will play out a 2-2 draw with Borussia Dortmund this evening.

Tottenham kick off their Champions League campaign tonight as they host German giants Dortmund at Wembley Stadium, in the hope of doing far better than last season’s dour campaign.

Defeats at Wembley to Monaco and Bayer Leverkusen meant Tottenham crashed out in the group stage last season, and Mauricio Pochettino will be desperate to avoid a repeat of that this year.

Pochettino saw his Tottenham side thrash Everton 3-0 at Goodison Park on Saturday afternoon, but the question marks over their form at Wembley remain.

Even if you overlook last season’s Champions League defeats, the form at Wembley hasn’t been much better this term, having lost to Chelsea and only drew 1-1 with Burnley.

Spurs will hope for better this time around, but they face a tough challenge against Borussia Dortmund to kick off their Champions League campaign.

Peter Bosz’s side have claimed seven points from their first three Bundesliga games, and pundit Charlie Nicholas believes they will claim a 2-2 draw at Wembley Stadium tonight.

Nicholas has told Sky Sports that he thinks Tottenham were ‘very good’ against Everton, and there should be joy for striker Harry Kaen against this Dortmund defence, but thinks they will have to come from behind to claim a draw against the Bundesliga outfit this evening.

“Tottenham were very good at the weekend but it’s back to Wembley, which also provides them with the chance to make the leap that they need,” said Nicholas. “Dortmund are a very difficult side to face with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang up front and a strong midfield, but you can get at their defence so there should be some joy for Harry Kane.”

“However, I can see there being more struggles for Spurs and I think they might well have to come from behind to get something from this game,” he added.
