Speaking to GiveMeSport, CBS journalist, Ben Jacobs has given an update on Arsenal’s interest in Mykhaylo Mudryk.

It’s no secret that Arsenal are interested in this player. They’ve been linked with him for months and it’s been widely reported that he’s their top target.

However, there seemingly hadn’t been any real concrete inroads made on this front for quite some time as Arsenal begin to plan for the January transfer window – until now that is.

Indeed, Jacobs now says that Arsenal have made their move regarding Mudryk, stating that talks have begun with both the club and the player over this potential transfer.

Arsenal open talks

Jacobs shared what he knows.

“Arsenal have made the move on Mudryk in the sense that they are now in talks with both Shakhtar and Mudryk’s representatives,” Jacobs said.

“The talks with Mudryk’s representatives are easy because Mudryk wants Arsenal; the negotiations with Shakhtar are a whole lot harder.”

Good source

Arsenal fans will have heard so many conflicting reports about Mudryk at this point that it’s hard to know what and what not to believe.

However, when it comes to reporting on this deal, Jacobs may be the best man for the job.

Of course, it was this journalist who interviewed Mudryk back in September when the Ukrainian admitted that he would like a move to Arsenal, so he is clearly abreast of this situation and close to Mudryk’s camp.

Arsenal are now in talks about this transfer, but whether or not those talks are fruitful is another matter entirely as Shakhtar’s Sporting Director has recently stated that he wants a fee north of £85m for the player – which would be a club-record for the Gunners.

This is one to keep an eye on, but it is far from a done deal at this point.
