If rumours are believed, Liverpool are interested in signing Ruben Semedo in January.

Jurgen Klopp’s side are having a rotten time of it lately with regards to centre-back injuries.

Virgil van Dijk has already been ruled out for the season and it looks like Liverpool team-mate Joe Gomez will be out for a while too after picking up a knee problem in England training this week, culminating in surgery.

But Semedo is the defender that Klopp who’s reportedly weighing up an £18 million bid – wants and it comes from a pretty good source.

Greek journalist Giannis Chorianopoulos first reported the story about the Olympiacos defender a little earlier this week, writing on Sportime.

And interestingly, this is the same figure who broke the news about Liverpool wanting Kostas Tsimikas who, of course, wound up joining the Premier League champions 11 days after Chorianopoulos’s story.

It’s possible that the Greek writer has revealed a few stinkers which haven’t materialised in transfers – it’s very probable, in fact.

But considering Tsimikas was also signed from Olympiacos, it’s also likely that the journalist is very much an in-the-know with regards to this club.

And if he claims that Liverpool want Semedo, it has to be taken seriously.
