Journalist Ben Jacobs has tipped Manchester United midfielder Scott McTominay to leave the club in the summer with the Scottish international losing his spot in the XI to Casemiro, with Newcastle United interested.
Speaking to CaughtOffside, the reporter revealed that the United academy graduate is one player who could depart Old Trafford at the end of the season having spent the majority of the campaign spend on the bench, with Casemiro establishing himself as one of the best players in the Premier League.
McTominay was linked with a January exit just this year, yet as we know, the midfielder opted to not leave Manchester, with United manager Erik Ten Hag also keen to keep hold of the 26-year-old. Yet there is now a strong chance the Red Devils star departs in the summer.
Jacobs said: ”Scott McTominay is one name that could depart. Ten Hag is quite glad that he’s there and he made it quite clear he didn’t want to entertain any January offers. But come the summer, because Casemiro has come in, McTominay will be available on the market. Newcastle, in particular, are one to watch there.

With McTominay set to leave his boyhood club in the summer transfer window, Newcastle could be ideal suitors for the midfielder given that the Magpies are in need of squad depth ahead of what will likely be the Toon’s first venture in Europe in over a decade.
Indeed, whilst it’s hard to call if McTominay will actually be a starter for Eddie Howe’s side, the Scottish international has the qualities to be an impressive squad player for Newcastle should the midfielder leave United, with St. James Park potentially the 26-year-old’s next home.
McTominay should leave Manchester United for Newcastle this summer

McTominay’s United career has been successful if rather unmemorable in some patches, and with the Manchester academy graduate set to leave in the summer, a move to Newcastle could be perfect for all parties if a deal is to be done in the coming months.
As mentioned by Jacobs, Newcastle could be the favourites to sign McTominay in the summer, and with an exit from Old Trafford looming large over the Scottish international, a move to the northeast would tick a lot of boxes for the midfielder as well as Eddie Howe’s side.
