So, it’s official. Liverpool are in the FA Cup final after their thrilling 3-2 win over Manchester City at Wembley earlier today.
The Reds dominated the first half, racing into a 3-0 lead, largely thanks to a big mistake from Manchester City glovesman Zack Steffen.
In the 17th minute, the American took a risk with Sadio Mané charging him down, and unfortunately for him, the shot-stopper couldn’t release the ball before Liverpool’s No.10 tackled it into the back of the net.
What’s the story?
Well, after full-time, Steffen was supposedly “in bits” according to Paul Hirst, a journalist for The Times.
Hirst adds that he saw Ederson and Scott Carson run straight over to the 27-year-old after the full-time whistle, as they attempted to console him over his mistake.
Clearly, the goalkeeping department at Manchester City stick together, and they will have surely been in pain watching Mané score Liverpool’s second goal.

In fairness to the USA international, he responded well, and didn’t look shaky throughout the rest of the game.
Ederson should’ve played in Liverpool 3-2 Manchester City
In our view, Pep Guardiola should’ve started Ederson at Wembley.
That may sound harsh, and we understand Steffen is Manchester City’s goalkeeper for the domestic cup competitions, but this is the FA Cup Semi-Final.

At this stage of the competition, you simply have to play your best options if they’re available, and Guardiola paid the price for not doing so.
It would’ve been ruthless to drop Steffen for today’s game, but if Guardiola had done so, maybe his side would be celebrating a place in the final.
