Sky Sports reporter Michael Bridge has told Give Me Sport that as many as five or six Premier League clubs would be keen on signing Tottenham man Djed Spence on loan in January – with Spurs ready to let him go on loan “tomorrow”.
Spence, 22, joined Tottenham in the summer from Middlesbrough after a wonderful loan spell at Nottingham Forest. Antonio Conte has admitted, though, that it was the club’s decision to sign Spence – and not one of his requests.
Since his arrival, he has managed just three appearances – all for a few minutes against Forest, Everton and Manchester United. He is the club’s third-choice option at right wing-back – along with Emerson Royal and Matt Doherty.
Bridge gave his verdict on Spence’s future ahead of the January window. He says Tottenham would loan him out “tomorrow” if they could, and suggests five or six Premier League clubs would be interested in landing Spence on loan.
“You would say that five or six Premier League clubs would take him on loan, maybe even Forest. He wouldn’t want to go back to the Championship but, if Spurs made him available for loan, they’d loan him out tomorrow,” Bridge said.

Spence desperately needs to go on loan. We wrote how Spence should have followed the Destiny Udogie model. Spurs signed the Italian wonderkid in the summer, but allowed him to immediately return to Serie A club Udinese on loan.
He is prospered since returning to Udinese. A return to Forest, the club he helped gain promotion, would have been beneficial for Spence given they were back in the Premier League. Instead, they have signed two new right-backs.
While Bridge says Forest might be an option, it is unlikely Steve Cooper would sign Spence again. They have brought in Neco Williams from Liverpool and Serge Aurier, an ex-Spurs player, on a free. Interesting to see where Spence goes.
