Speaking on the Transfer Window Podcast, journalist Ian McGarry has shared why Carlo Ancelotti is slightly concerned by the idea of signing Philippe Coutinho.

Everton have been strongly linked with Coutinho in recent days, and it seems as though the club are considering bringing the Brazilian to Goodison Park.

However, while Ancelotti would be happy to have Coutinho at the club, he’s slightly worried about the effect his arrival could have on James Rodriguez.

“He has been marketed by his agent Kia Joorabchian to find him a club where he would play regular football and get back to the form that saw him rated amongst the world’s top players when he was at Liverpool,” McGarry said.

“Everton doesn’t seem like the most obvious fit, and it’s our information at the Transfer Window Podcast, that Carlo Ancelotti, while happy to have the player at Goodison Park, is slightly concerned that it will upset the player that he brought in and the player he has encouraged and persuaded to move to Merseyside, James Rodriguez.”

This is certainly an interesting update.

Everton already have one superstar attacking midfielder, so why do they need another?

Of course, both Rodriguez and Coutinho can play on the wings, but you can’t help but feel that both players would be wasted in those roles.

The idea of the pair playing together at Everton is mouth-watering, but is it worth bringing Coutinho in If he’s going to unsettle Rodriguez?

Time will only tell whether or not Everton bring Coutinho in.
