Alasdair Gold has lifted the lid on whether Spurs could sign Wilfried Zaha as an understudy to Dejan Kulusesvki in January.
The Crystal Palace winger, whose contract expires in the summer has been linked with moves to Marseille, PSG and AS Monaco by 90 Min.
While it has also reported that Arsenal have been keen on the 30-year-old’s addition (via 90 Min), The Athletic had claimed during the summer that Spurs were eyeing a late bid for him.

As Spurs aim to secure Champions League qualification for the second season in a row, a fan quizzed Gold about whether the club would consider bringing in their former transfer target, as a possible understudy to Dejan Kulusesvki.
Gold on whether Zaha to Tottenham is a possibility
In a Q&A session with Football.London, Alasdair Gold said, “Zaha has been linked with Spurs in every transfer window, but it’s never been a deal that’s seemingly ever come close to becoming a reality.”
“His contract situation will become attractive for Tottenham with just six months remaining but at 30 years old, he’s edging away from being the usual profile of signing they’d go for, especially with the contract he would require.”
“Ivan Perisic did break away from that mould, which means you can never say never, but when it comes to Premier League free transfers, foreign clubs often hold the advantage because they can speak to players from January.”
Tottenham should stay away from signing Zaha
Yes, Wilfried Zaha is once again having a superb season with Palace.
And the Ivorian international would perhaps provide excellent cover for Son Heung-min or as a potential false nine alternative to Harry Kane.
But it is high time for Antonio Conte’s men to operate like an elite club and only approach players that would benefit them in the long term.
The goal at the club should be to bring in signings that could potentially take over from any of their elite front three, in case they remain unavailable.
As class as Zaha is, that simply cannot be said, especially with him expected to decline over time at his current age, especially to come in place for the ever-improving Kulusevski.
