Speaking on his YouTube channel, Alasdair Gold has shared the latest on Tottenham Hotspur’s reported interest in James Maddison.
This has been a rather strange rumour. We continuously hear why this transfer is unlikely or unrealistic, but for one reason or another, it just won’t go away.
Spurs are reportedly very keen on Maddison, but if that is true, they’re keeping their cards very close to their chest.
Indeed, according to Gold, people within the club are shooting down any links to the midfielder. The reporter was asking about the rumours on Spurs’ recent trip to Israel, but despite reaching out to numerous different contacts, the answer was always the same – no.

“There’s the James Maddison stuff but Spurs are still shooting down any links to him, even in Israel, Tom and I were asking our various contracts around the club about him, and everything was coming back as a ‘no’ and that’s interesting as you see Newcastle are trying to get him, although I saw some Brendan Rodgers comments today about the ridiculous amount of money it would cost to sign him,” Gold said.
Denial
People within Tottenham are seemingly adamant that this transfer isn’t on their agenda, but it has to be said that this wouldn’t be the first time a football club has denied a transfer rumour only for it to happen later in the window.
The last thing a club like Spurs needs right now is stories being leaked every two minutes, especially around a player like Maddison who is so in-demand right now.
It could just be as straightforward as Spurs not wanting Maddison, but as the old adage goes, there’s no smoke without fire, and there’ve been plenty of whispers around this one.
