Speaking on the SFeatleyTV YouTube channel, Fabrizio Romano has delivered an update on Arsenal’s chances of signing Martin Odegaard permanently this summer.
Unfortunately, it’s not good news for Arsenal fans. The journalist claims that people close to Real Madrid have told him that they want the player back, and that does make things complicated for the Gunners.
“There is a meeting scheduled between Real Madrid and Arsenal at the end of the season. They have a great relationship, so for sure they will talk. The key will be the position of the manager of Real Madrid, if Zidane stays and what Zidane will decide on the players like Ceballos and Odegaard,” Romano said.
“What I can say is that it won’t be easy, talking with people close to Real Madrid, they say ‘we want the player back’ they count on Odegaard as their player and not a loan player. So they expect Odegaard to come back, but as always guys, keep an eye on Arsenal.”

This isn’t what Arsenal will have wanted to hear.
Odegaard looks to be one of the Gunners’ most important players these days, so losing him at the end of the season would be a bit of a nightmare.
A deal isn’t completely off the table, but as Romano says, it won’t be easy for Arsenal to land him.
Unfortunately, the reality is that Real Madrid are a much bigger club than Arsenal, and if they want to keep hold of the Norwegian, it will be tough for them to do a deal.
